Culture Conference
21 feb 2026
We are delighted to note the success of the Conference and Exhibition on the Highland Landscape, which was sold out and garnered enthusiastic comments. We extend heartfelt thanks to the two speakers, Sonia Fornari and Settimio Adriani, who recounted a fascinating and evocative history of two millennia of transformation that has led to today's landscape, and recounted delightful anecdotes related to agriculture, pastoralism, and the use of local products, captivating the interest of the many spectators.
We are even more pleased to note the declared intention of the two Proloco associations of Fiamignano and Petrella Salto to forge collaborative relationships and launch projects and proposals to enhance and promote our great shared heritage. A calendar of meetings is being developed to lay the foundations for this collaboration and launch the first joint initiatives. The success of the conference confirmed that we are on the right path: culture and participation are the vehicles for further promoting our region and raising awareness of its value within our community.
In addition to a rich display of images, the two speakers recounted the history, landscape, and life of the highlands.
Architect Sonia Fornari traced the history of the landscape from its origins to the present day, through the centuries, from the first pre-Roman pastoral settlements to the Roman era, to the medieval period when an entire community populated the highlands, up to abandonment and the modern era, and to the current rediscovery.
Professor Settimio Adriani, a local history enthusiast, described life and the economy of the plateau, from pastoralism, cattle and horse breeding, to crops, the history and use of the many quality products that today can constitute a major economic resource, up to the traditions and stories that are part of our deepest culture.
Curiosity and fascination characterized the audience of over fifty people. Our thanks go to the Pro Loco of Fiamignano, the presence of Roccaranieri, and our fellow citizens of Borgo San Pietro, Offeio, and Petrella.
Synergy and effective collaborations, on the field.
